A little local understanding.

A plant can be well suited to our region without being right for every garden. This library is a starting point for a site-specific design.

Read the light

Full sun: at least 6 hours of direct sun. Part shade: about 2–6 hours. Full shade: less than 2 hours of direct sun. Afternoon exposure and reflected heat matter, too.

Resistant, not deer-proof

“More resistant” highlights plants reported as less preferred. Deer can still browse any plant, especially tender new growth. “Variable” and “Not rated” do not mean safe from deer.

Salt is site-specific

Our coastal filter includes documented salt tolerance. It is not a promise of tolerance to storm surge, saltwater flooding, or constant oceanfront spray. Have your designer evaluate the actual exposure.

Leave room to grow

Height and spread are mature reference ranges, not nursery pot sizes or recommended spacing. Named cultivars can be very different from the parent species. Tree and vine dimensions may be large.

Water & soil matter

Drought tolerance applies after establishment. New plants need establishment care. Drainage, irrigation, soil testing, and acidic-soil requirements belong in the final planting plan.

Native is a starting point

Our native label refers to the southeastern United States, not necessarily every coastal county. Native does not mean maintenance-free. Match a plant's natural habitat to your site.

How to use your palette

Create a customer visit, then add plants with the plus button. Review quantities, installed sizes and placement in the customer palette. Present the selection during the visit, then print or export the handoff for your AutoCAD / Land F/X design. Internal notes are not included in customer outputs. Back up your projects before changing browsers or devices.

Plant facts are summarized from extension and named grower references; each profile links to its reference. Photos depict identified species or the explicitly noted representative form—not a promise of a particular nursery specimen. Bloom timing and appearance vary. Toxicity cautions are not an exhaustive pet-safe or child-safe assessment.
